There is a lot to work out here.
Springs hold the weight of the door.
A cable from the spring goes over the pulleys and attaches at the bottom corner of the door.
Spring is not stretched, or barely stretched, when door is up/open.
As door closes the spring is stretched. More closed, more spring stretch. Springs are matched to the door weight.
A separate cable is run through the springs. This is to try and stop a disaster if the spring breaks. (You do not want this to happen.)
Tension on spring cable is adjusted by moving hook end. Should not be on the door track.
Single car door is 9x7 usually. Double is 16x7.
They may seem lightweight. That is only cause the springs are taking the weight. Without the springs, the door would hurt someone.

The motor just moves the door, almost no weight should be on a properly adjusted door. Using the hand release should allow you to easily move the door up and down. (Oh I lost power, can't get to work today. Fired. Too stupid, or think I am.) That said, make sure no one can trip that release from the outside.
Lots of other adjustments.
Most have gone to the torsion spring setup. Maybe more compact, maybe safer. Early ones were not idiot serviceable. Newer ones are said to be safer. Yes, you could rip your parts off if you did not know.
