Garage Door Opener Troubleshooting

I have a liftmaster wifi model that is only about 2 years old, along with the door itself. Everything has been operating fine until I decided to spray lube the hinges and spring. I noticed the door had gotten noticeably louder lately so figured it was time for a little maintenance. Once I lubed things up I opened the door and it was much quieter. Go to close it and wouldn't close, like something tripped the sensors. Nope, sensors were lit up normal but the opener was giving me the "sensor fault" lighting sequence that says the sensors were blocked.

I fooled with the sensors and they remained lit up as normal but the door still wouldn't close and flashed the sensor default. At one point I got the door to close and purposely tripped the sensors and the door still continued to close without the sensors tripping. During all this I had a solid green light on one sensor and solid yellow on the other the whole time. I finally got the door to close but something has to be off with the sensors for the door to act like it did even though sensors showed they were lined up.

Any adjustment I can check? I find it odd that when I lubed the door, it decided to F up.

Start from the beginning. Disconnect opener from door. Check door balance and door tension, also check rollers. If all is well go to opener and check travel adjustment and force adjustment.

You may have to re set opener force limits. Follow the book. Then continue troubleshooting sequence if problem continues. Have you operated the door by hand as suggested? That is the place to start.

Because of a loss of confidence in my local Liftmaster dealer I will not knowingly have one of their openers on any property that I own.

Having said that, I suggest you call the manufacturer and speak with their Technical Service Desk and if my experience with their competitor is of any value IMHO, they should guide you through their trouble shooting procedure and if the opener is new enough they should arrange for warranty service or replacement parts.

My opinion is based on my experience with the Geni company.
