This is a tough one for me to figure out. I had a stainless door pan make for a 10’ wide garage door on the second floor. It fit exactly in the 10’ opening. It’s been installed for a while and is fitted under the metal trim of the exterior. The pan has a nice slope to it for drainage to the exterior. All according to plan.
The garage door came later and I did not realize that the garage door would be slightly wider.
I put double seals on the sides but not surprisingly driven rain drips down off the edge of the door and misses the pan.
I guess I’m going to have a new pan made. With a little section that juts out 1.5” each side to catch the bottom of the door. I think they can do that. Then rip out the old and replace (dang it).
Alternatively, I could cut that little 1/4” lip, fold it down, and fashion an little stainless section to catch the door.
My question is how to attach to the existing door pan. The guys at the place weld the stainless. I’ve got no idea how to weld mild steel much less stainless.
I might be able to braze but that’s a lot of heat.
Maybe silver solder? Or I could rivet it with goop though not liking the idea of holes.
Appearance is medium important. This is going to be a finished space and I don’t want it to look hacked together.
Any ideas?
