After consulting with local installers, I have decided to install a 45k btu Hot Dawg in my 720 sqft detached garage. I have to determine which corner I want to put it in now.

I have a compass in the picture below, showing North to the right. The house/gas line will be coming from the SE.

Originally I was planning on spot #1 and bringing the gas through the wall on the west side of the man door, then up and over the door to that corner.

There used to be a woodstove in the garage I believe, and the vent and cap are still there. Personally I would prefer to not put any new penetrations through the roof, so I have started considering locations #2 and #3.

Where would you place the heater?

I think I am still leaning towards #1 due to ease of install (there is a dedicated circuit for it there already). Plus it will be out of the way of the double door. Plus then the noise won't be an issue, nor am I concerned about the fan blowing papers and stuff of the workbench.

The only downside is the addition of a second vent through the roof and the additional $100 in venting material cost

Traditionally most garages use the #2 location. I would think #1 is fine especially if your doors are insulated.
If you look at loading docks, the heaters are hanging close to the OH door anyhow, so it shouldn't be an issue unless you leave your door open a lot in the winter.
Not #3 unless you want a very warm workbench area.

#1 the heater will provide a bit of a curtain of warmer air from the door. I would angle it about 30* off the doors.

Mine is in the number 3 position, My work bench is in the area where you have your truck, My ceilings are 10 FT, I don't really feel the fan to much.
