A garage kit is nothing more than a pre-picked deal from the lumberyards. Same lumber, same specs, but they already have a material list made out. Floor and foundation is up to you no matter what.

BTW.....Welcome to Garage Journal. If you get a package, or decide to design your own, start a build thread. We like pics, and hope top see you hang around.

Usually a kit is an "eye catcher" price..."I could get a garage for that!! :bounce:" and is bare bones accordingly.

Yep. We sell them at our store.....they are meant to show the customer that they can get the garage in the photo for a set price....usually the kit garage has 2x4 walls, white siding and plain roofing....

More free than not, it brings the customer in, and then we 'upgrade' them to the siding they want, roof to match their house, and on and on.

There's no scam in the package whatsoever, but make sure you are comparing apples to apples when comparing packages (ie we always used pressure treated bottom plates and 2 x 6 walls, etc)

I am considering building a 24 x 36 triple (detached) with one double door and one single with standard shingles and cedar siding. Do you know what a package like that typically costs? How much should I plan on for labour and electrical? I already have a pad quote. Thanks.
