has anybody added a lean to on the back of their garage? any pics? my garage is 36 ft wide and am thinking of adding a lean to on back of building, its block by the way, any ideas?

i've run some lean-to roofs -- ground level porches with posts & rails.
it's easy and safe for someone without experience.. the hardest part will be the post holes.. that's it.
will you need to add gutters to route the water in a specific direction?
-- i recommend gutters so you don't risk puddles under your lean-to roof.
how deep do you want it to be from front to back?
like, what will you store under it?

I recycled an aluminum patio cover to the side of my garage. I do most of my work out there. It's great when making dust or a mess. I can close it off for painting or cold weather with vertically hung tarps.

i will go either 10 or 12 feet deep by 25 to 30 feet long. i want to enclose it with metal or wood siding and plan on storing zero turn mower, four wheelers, tillers, push mowers, all the stuff i'd like to get out of my building.

If, I understand and if I can respond in the proper vernacular...
A lean-to shed on the block (cinder?) would make a great area to store what you are talking about. It could be easily framed out of 2x. All the HW stores carry fasteners to mount the stringer to start framing from.
I see using carriage doors for each "section" wher 2-4 vehicles or categories of stuff could be stored. For instance garden in one and 4-wheeler stuff in another...
The framing would be very straight forward and little or no floor would be needed if there is no drainage problems. It would be small enough that scrounged lumber might build the whole thing.
Think and prepare to prevent water entry at the shed roof-to-building side.
Of course, I have no restrictions or permits to worry about and you might.
