Garage Ventilation Questions

Hey guys and gals.

My house and garage are heated with geo thermal, and my question is pertaining to my garage.
I have a 32x28 attached garage. I have r20 in the walls, and r42 of blow in in the roof. I have a hanging or false rood (forgive me if I use the wrong terminology!)(I can also go into more details of the geo thermal system if its necessary for my question!)

My garage is heated through my geo system through the floor. Its extremly nice heat!

Anyways my question is about the ventilation. Here in the winter with my truck and car both in the garage, it gets humid. I built the complete garage (minus the cement work) with my own hands and I totally overlooked the ventilation for the main part of the garage. (my attic is vented properly though)

What do some of you other guys running in floor heat do for ventilation? I am going to be keeping my garage nice and warm all winter (55) and I would like to install something so i dont have to run my portable dehumidifier, or open the doors.

Any thoughts, advice, conversation would be greatly appreciated!

Is this Preppypyro from SK? I know you from FTE if so!

Welcome aboard REGARDELSSS!

You totally need ventialtion if it's humid. A wall fan is best, but ***** a lot of heat out at the same time. Best situation if it's COLD where you live, is a vent fan going through a long heat transition tube(fanned at low speed) with HUMIDISTAT to turn it on/off. Yuo can do it with 4" ducting, an in-duct fan and a humidistat - total $100.00 or less.

Good luck, and put up some pics!!

Fancy seeing you on here etek! Yeah it is me. Been keeping busy on the resto's this winter? I havent seen ya post on FTE very much, figured you had to have been busy!

I had thought of just a regular old fan, but you know how cold it can get up here, and I was hoping there was some magic contraption out tehre that would work like a fan and not let any heat out.

I also have my false roof installed allready, so for your idea with the heat transition tube, would it matter if it went horizontal instead of vertical?

Preppy the magic contraption is a portable dehumidifier :D. I run one in my basement all summer since I dont need to cool the basement only remove the humidity from down there . Welcome to GJ by the way to another Ford Guy.

Y'know, I was thinking horizontal the whole time....it'd likely work best to transition the heat sink.

As for FTE, couple reasons really: I'm addicted to GJ (lots of variety!) and I've been working on a 56 Chevy Truck for a freind all winter. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/showthread.php?t=420843 Almost ready for paint now. So until my Merc is out of cold-storage, I haven't much thought of FTE!
