Garage with apartment

Hello new to the forum!!
Im currently buying some land and have my mind rolling on a garage with living quarters, always been a dream of mine to have a big garage. My idea is 40x80x16....40foot of garage and then 40 foot of house with a second story since im going 16 high. Wondering if any one on here did something like this or similar! Would love to see some pictures! Thank you.

A bachelor buddy of mine bought an acreage. He built the garage first and lived in it while he got around to adding the house. I have to admit it ended up being one of the nicest garages when it came time to finally using it for a garage. Full bath, tiled floors, quality windows etc. Small by your standards but it worked for him.

That is where I am at I'm single and no kids. No reason for me to have a big house I don't need at the moment. There will be plenty of room to put a house on the land as well. Still not sure on exact size. Looking to get some ideas and pictures. Figured this would be a good place to start.

I like 50ft deep to park 2 vehicles end to end or truck and trailer still connected.

Also when I got quote 16ft eves and 18ft eves were not much price difference and 18ft eve would net you much nicer interior height for 2 story living.

I had plans drawn up for 50x100 with a 50x25ft living area. 1 bedroom 1 bath plus bath for shop downstairs. But found it cheaper in the end to buy the land with house already. Then build a smaller shop.
