Gas line question - Mr Heater

Ok, for you plumbers out there:

My local building department goes by the 2003 uniform plumbing code, with no local modifications.

I am installing a Mr Heater natural gas 75K unit heater, hung from ceiling.
My gas line is 3/4", plumbed through attic and down through ceiling near the back of the heater, and will have a tee with drip leg, and a gas shut off valve on the side of the tee.

My question is:
Does the 2003 uniform plumbing code indicate that flex line is acceptable between the gas valve and the heater, or does it specify solid piping, which would mean adding a union to this configuration?

A appropriate appliance flex type connector is acceptable for your application; I too have a yellow appliance flex pipe from the hard pipe to the heater; in fact in one of the AHJ I live in, you cannot hard pipe directly to an appliance, their must be a flex in line.
