Have a few questions about gas line
just had a new home built and I need to add a few gas items like the furnace in the garage.
I am old school and like good old black pipe, and I know how to do it nicely and correctly.
the new house was done in the new yellow flex stuff. there is a black pipe manifold with room for expansion and an extra valve.

my question is can I run the line to the garage out of black pipe> or does it need to be the same flex pipe? one person tried to tell me the 2 run at different pressures so I would have to add an additional regulator for the black pipe.
I am good at cutting thereading and sealing the pipe but dont know too much about pressure or design.

adding a furnace in the garage
adding a Gas stove instead of electric
adding a line to the pattio for a gas grill
adding a line to a fire pit in the pattio as well

would I need a larger suply line if I am adding the last 2?
Thanks for any help Ray

You can run the black pipe to your garage. Flex, etc shouldn't be needed. You're not planning to bury it are you?

Newer homes often use a 2lb gas system. Black pipe works fine for 2lb, but your appliances will likely only accept 1/2lb. You will likely need to install regulator(s).

You'd have to tell us the supply line size, pressure used, and total BTU consumption before we can tell you if you'll need a larger line. Also, make sure that the meter is rated for the flow as well.
