I am nearing retirement age and planning to return to my native Montana...hopefully on a few acres of land with plenty of solitude. I'd like to construct (almost certainly metal...maintenace ease, fire safety, etc). I plan to combine everything in one unit...housing, shop/hangar though it remains to be seen if the $$$ are there for flying! My initial thought is living quarters in one end of upper half of the building. It is just me for now so I won't need a lot of space but would like to be able to accomodate occasional guests so probably 2 bdrm, great room and 2 baths up with 1/2 down. Like to use to use solar and good insulation to the extent possible. I do not plan to winter in MT (normally) and will head south in pick up and fifth wheel for warmer climes until the snow is gone. Probably a million things I should be thinking about but I am sure you can collectively "guide" me.
