That is an oddball size set. No 9mm, 15mm, 16mm or 18mm. Nor do I see it offered as single spares. Wonder how GW came up with this?

I don't think I've ever used a 9mm in my life. At least not that I can remember. lol

But I do agree. I want every mm size in a "set"

I ordered late Tuesday night and my package was just delivered! That's crazy fast.

Crazy fast for me too! Ordered one of the 8 piece ratcheting sets Tuesday morning and they were dropped off Wednesday evening.

They must have a distribution center in Greensboro, nc.

I bet it came from South Carolina. Apex has consolidated most of their hand tool stuff in South Carolina.

9mm is for Ford bolt in glass. Truck rear windows, older car quarter glass. Only thing I've ever used them for. And I have All 3 styles lol.

This man speaks the truth and must have turned a wrench on a few broken fords as well.

I wonder why they chose such a strange size and ran with it for so long?

Vw uses 9mm.

I had to buy one this week. And the only 9mm 12 point we could find was 1/2 drive lol

I recently ordered a set of the 8pc SAE racheting wrenches from the hot deals section. The ups tracking shows the package at 18.90 lbs. What could be in there to weigh that much? Hoping it's just an error, the wrenches don't weight anything close I have the metric set in my box already.

I know sometimes ups will base the weight on the size of the box, if it's s big box without much in it. Gear wrench is famous for that... So I suspect that's why the weight is so high

The wrenches came and it was the only thing in the box. The box must be a std. size because it was a little large but I'm happy. Wished they pushed something heavy in the box for a secret surprise, but I'll live. LOL

Can anybody recommend a system for storing sockets in a tool bag? It seems like the plastic clip rails are my best option that I'm aware of. They're ok, but I'd like something a bit sturdier/more organized if there's a product out there. Unfortunately most of my mechanical work happens everywhere BUT my garage at home :headscrat so i just have the metal clip rails in my toolbox. Those tools do more sitting than working, so, I could care less how they're stored as long as they don't roll all over the place when I open the drawer.

I'd grab some socket rails from HF for $1 each and then mount them to a piece of wood. That's the set up I have now. Inexpensive but functional.

Thanks! I also realized I meant to put this in a different thread....woops. Had too many tabs open on my computer, haha. I use HF metal rails at home now and a few craftsman ones. I'd have to trim them down to fit my bag, but they're a dollar, so I won't feel bad for cutting them

I was thinking about doing that myself. It looks a lot better than I imagined, thanks for the picture. I've always been weary of the plastic strips because I just can't imagine they're all that durable.

There is/was a Apex Tool Group - Hot Deals Link thread that never amounted to much.

Pretty much all the GearWrench hot deals in the past seemed to be tools that were or about to be discontinued but some may have been overstocked items.

These days Cripe still seems to getting GearWrench overstock/discontinued stuff.

Was unaware that Apex ever had a hot deals page. I've found that the best deals on GW are usually to be found on ebay ... when they offer the $15 of $75 discounts.
