GFCI and ground

I wired up to an old uf wire to a garage. It was old, but it was sturdy and hooked it to a gfci circuit before it left the main. I labeled it gfci and no equipment ground. I was contemplating the number of reasons for the label. It wont protect short circuit from other source.
Useless for surge suppression. In the case of the detatched garage no ground rod either. Not sure how much is to be gained in old wood bld with a rod. It now is fed from 12 vs old 14 with a 30 on it.

I know it can be done cause I seen it on THOH. But really, they had a guest star Sparky Really good remodel guy, done it hundreds of times. Turned the switch leg from a switched outlet in to a feed for the switch and fed an overhead light.

It was sposed to be a joke early in the morning, Seemed funnier before coffee. I saw it on tv so I know its so.
I was doing one of my own jobs a while back and had a chance to meet the inspector. He went over the job and said,,, looks like you done this before. I told him I learned it from the internet.
