We replaced one yesterday. I replaced one a couple years ago in an out building. I come in this morning and my helper says,,, I got the old one working,,, simple mud dauber in it. Good to know, they don't give them away.

I notice they've gotten more expensive. I'm gradually replacing the 25 year old ones in our house. In some locations I notice moisture/condensation kills them in a few years.

Would think that the technology has matured, the price would be less. BUT, since NEC mandates them in many areas, they are required. If required, people have to pay...

The price was reasonable. Then they had to be tamper resistant in residential. Then self test. Every time they jacked up the price.
