I use to have all late 90’s craftsman I sold all of the socket sets but kept my combo wrenches as they were a good maker. I slowly bought used sets of S&k until I have 1/4,3/8 and 1/2. I bought several of the new sk ratchets when they came out and they are ok. I thought everyone was just a snob for having snap on. I picked up a used ratchet one marketplace and rebuilt it man they know how to make a ratchet so I still have all the sk sets and they are nice but the now have all the snap on ratchets and I love them.

I’m in the same boat with 90’s and up craftsman sockets. While I have added Sunex and Tekton impacts, I only feel the need to replace sockets that there would be an obvious advantage. I always found that the sockets, being what they were were often good enough for the general work I did over the years. Have some broken, maybe a few, with some 1/4 stripping or wearing. More have likely been lost. I only wish I bought full metric sets in a few sizes, as I still don’t have a full set of deep chrome sockets in 1/2 drive. Along the way I have traded up my wrenches, ratchets, and screwdrivers, but the 6 pt sockets have never needed to be swapped.
