I am looking for a few metric hex bits to fit the snap on ratcheting screw drivers. The one that are usually sold with with cordless screw driver kits and the impact drivers.

Found the English hex bits every where, but looking for some 3mm, 4mm, and 5mm metric ones for a project.

Any good mail order sources where I can buy the separately or a set reasonable enough to not worry about the extras?

you can buy it from snap-on website.

Thanks for the reply. Think SO bits may be over kill for what I have in mind....

There is a company that make a mini click type torque tool with a 5mm bit for a specific use. Since I also use 3mm and 4mm for bike repair, I bought two extra tools, and plan on taking the 5mm bits out, gluing a 3mm and a 4mm on the two extra tools I have. I'd have a whole set. The torque setting may be a tad off for 3mm and 4mm, but should be close enough....

So I'll put my bullet proof vest on.....SO bits would be over kill.....this just a project to see how they work and how much I use them. Ultimately they seem like they would be perfect for a small bike kit for the car...

Any other generic sources....

Can't go wrong with either, both excellent pro grade tools:

Bondhus offers ball-ended hex bits. I picked my metric hex bits from an online bicycle shop. They were generically branded, but they work well.

I'm not super impressed with my Snap On/Zephyr bits... I would look to Apex. Apex seem to be the standard in manufacturing tooling...

Standard magic rings are excellent, the ball end version is so handy for things like hidden away adjusters on mountain bikes. $3.70 and $4.02 respectively. Made in Germany.

How about glue....

Thanks for the replies plenty of options....

Here is the tool I want to modify......

http://www.bicycling.com/article/1,6610,s1-1-323-15835-1,00.html

Ultimately the idea is to take out the existing bit out of the tool, by hammering. Now I have find a way to glue the new bits in, any ideas?

If all works I'll have a small torque tool for all three common bike sizes. Just need glue or some type of locktight....

Wiha and Wera are the best, but plenty of other cheaper brands are just fine for the average user.

EVERYBODY should have the 100 bit set from Harbor Freight that goes on sale less than $8 all the time. I have two of them, but have yet to damage any bits despite hammering them into reluctant fasteners etc.

Harbor Freight should have what you seek. Can you adapt a magnet inside the tool to hold the bit? Use a cheap bit holder. It may be in the HF kit.

BT...if you want search part # GAAW3101 on my site or www.toptul.com to see a picture to tell if it's something close to what you're looking for. Price is $11.46 before Garage Journal 20% discount until the end of the year.
