Got a new compressor disconnect switch with a twist??

I was at the local peddlers mall today and was in need of a disco switch for my compressor. I ran across a hubbell HBLDS6 safety disconnect for $20 new in the box. It said 60 amps 600 vac max so I picked it up and when I got home I googles it and this model sell for between 350 and 500 bucks.

So what in the world is this thing used for?

Just a typical 3 phase disconnect from what I can see. Nothing 3-phase is cheap. Good score.

This will work for your single phase application, however it may well confuse someone into thinking it is a 3 phase compressor.

Probably best to trade for a proper switch, and keep extra cash that should be part of the trade. Value of three phase is much higher than your required single phase.

That is a decent switch w/ a NEMA 4X rating ($$$) and since it's a non-metallic enclosure, electrically bonding metal conduits together is a issue. I am not going to go into detail on how to do it since the parts required to do it are outside of the domain of home centers, big box stores....
