As much as I want to buy a big 52" toolbox, I don't have enough room for it as you can see in the first pic.

So, I decided to take a look at my drawers and see if I can better organize them. With the recent discussion of the socket racks I immediately noticed that I could consolidate at least 2 of my drawers into one.

After $65 worth of racks and clips I'm almost there :)

Now only if I can figure out how to organize the 3 dozen hex keys I have...

BTW, here's what I was using before and even though the trays were easy to take the socket in and out of it was just too much room they was occupying.

Very nice!

Yup, with this whole discussion about socket storage, I ended up getting some Hansen storage trays at Sears 2 days ago. This site is a bad influence on me...... a baaaaaaaad influence!

Thanks, so far so good.

Yes, its a 4dr 328. I too set out to buy a E36 M3 but couldn't find a good, low mileage 4dr version in my price range. After about 2 months of searching I gave up and ended up with the 328. Unfortunately I've spent enough money on this car that I could've had an M3 if I was patient enough to wait for the right car...oh well, its still a lot of fun to drive and does nicely as a daily driver and a weekend track car.h

Yeah I originally wanted to get the Hansen trays but since I don't have a lift, I have to crawl in and out under the car to get the sockets etc. I figure it would be easier to just grab the whole clip when I crawl under the car. The downside is you have to look for the engraved size of the socket which is not fun...that's a big plus with the trays.

Now I'm wanting some trays again... :lol_hitti

Well, if you use them long enough, you know which one is which when you grab it off the clip....i dont remember the last time i looked at the engravings on my sockets.

Hansen at Lowes and Northern Tool

I noticed the other day that the neighborhood Lowes carries the Hansen trays for about $11-$14, much cheaper than Sears. I recall seeing them at Northern Tool, but not as cheap.

At the local Harbour Freight, they have these:

http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/Displayitem.taf?itemnumber=36978

Which fits into most 21" cabinets and holds 171 sockets and your wrenches. I already have the "Socket-It-To-Me" version of their wrench holder here:

http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/Displayitem.taf?itemnumber=36979

Which I really like. I already have the Craftsman Grey socket organizer set of trays. Speaking of trays, the ones I use the most are the plastic trays that the Craftsmen sockets came in. I cut off the plastic pegboard tab and drag them under my car with me.
