granite floor tile squares for a countertop

bought some to redo the top.

The granite looks nice but you will find slight variations in tile height and uneven surface you want to put it on.
I got around this using small pieces of vinyl electrical tape. Cut small pieces with a scissor and lay them one on top of each other till the tile heights are smooth from one to another. I played these on the old Formica a little inwards from the tile corners.

I used PL Premium construction adhesive in thin beads to glue the tiles. If you use it too thick it can swell up and lift them. Really should be careful with that glue in that regard, otherwise it is a perfect glue waterproof and wont let go years down the road.

I simply edge butted the tiles together. If you go to HD, the tile makers offer an edge granite molding for the counter front which looks good.

I have no idea how it will look years from now.
I am thinking of sealing the granite. Any ideas?

I did granite tiles over existing formica counter 7 yrs ago and all is fine. I tried a sample with construction adhesive and it caused a dark bleed through that was visible on the surface, it took some time to show up so I'm glad I did the test before doing the entire counter. HD has some special mortar made for adhesion to surfaces such as laminate and it worked great. you need to scratch up the laminate for a bite...you might notice discoloration as the adhesive sets up, granite is pourous and this is why it occurs.
