Gray Canada multi length ratchet

What can you guys tell me about this ratchet?

Haven't had my hands on many Gray ratchets but this one seems unique. Never saw one before.

It collapses into the handle, I think it's pretty cool.

It has Patent Pending and a -3- stamp, is that a date code?

I'm curious about its age.
