I am thinking of getting a Gray Pro tools chest.

I know a few members here have owned them or are still using them and just wanted to see their thoughts or opinions? Please let me know good or bad thanks Gareth.

I don't have one, but the ones I saw at the local distributor were very nice, old school, very similar to my big old Beach chest and cabinet. I like them, and I'd get one!

They are great, the shop I work at has had theirs for 5-10 years and they still look and function perfectly.

I am also looking into one for myself

Thanks for the information. I also had a look at this chest SPG International CFD 2606. These are made in Canada anyone use one of these?

I bought a CFS-3708 (8 drawer side cab) last year. Despite the (non ball bearing) slides being similar to the ones in my Beach made Craftsman box, the drawers feel so gritty even after filing and lubrication, I can't stand to use it. I assume this will be a similar design. Make sure you try before you buy.

Gareth, check the costco website. They have international boxes cheaper than gray that are better quality I believe.

Gareth,

Greetings from Ottawa, I have played with most of the Gray boxes and though they are seemingly well built, I find they were overpriced when purchased new. It also seems that most of the models which I was able to play with were always the friction slide models. In Ottawa, Preston Hardware always had a few different models on display, so did Ottawa Fasteners in Bells Corners. For the same money, I would either look for a used truck box or consider a box from Rousseau Metals (http://www.rousseaumetal.com/default.aspx?lg=en) They are a Canadian version of Lista/Vidmar. Quite impressed with them.

Thanks for the replies. I have Snap On for work but I just wanted an extra small box to store all my extra **** I have built up. I have been looking on Kijiji at used boxes as well.

Thanks for the heads up on the Rousseau tool storage. It looks very well made.

I had a look at Ottawa fastener but the only one they had in stock was a anniversary stack which has the ball bearing slides and a bit big for my needs.
