Ryan (GJ Member) did two coats of Gray Rust Bullet. 1# of B-411 flake / 100 Sq. Ft. and one coat of Rust Bullet clear. I have shared this photo with his permission

I used the same product. It looked great until I rolled my engine stand with a big block on it across it. It just isn't designed to hold up to the weight of a heavy engine on small metal casters.

Are you saying that it scratched? How many base coats/clear coats? Just curious. Thanks.

Hey Jonny,

I am sorry to hear that you had an issue. I see this is your first post, so I can't find any project information for you or threads about your project. If you can PM me information on your project, I would love to help you correct the issue you are having.

We have multiple shop applications, industrial applications, workshop applications, and I have not had this issue. So if you can get me some details and some photos, I would love to help.

On a side note... I tell people with any coating or modular tile that if you are rolling heavy equipment on casters make sure they are clean. We actually had the reverse of this situation where a pool table had damaged ordinary urethane and they went back with this instead.

I just did a single coat on a bare concrete floor, no clear coat. The casters didn't scratch it, it seemed to just separate it from the concrete. It didn't flake off immediately but over the next few months it started flaking off around the "tracks" the stand made.

I have since laid tile to convert the garage into a bedroom. I'm not trying to bash the product, I actually really liked it and didn't expect it to hold up to an 800 lb engine with metal casters, that as mentioned above probably were not clean.

For a residential application a minimum of 2 coats is required. For a shop, industrial or commercial application a minimum of 4 coats is suggested. With just one coat of gray you were almost guaranteed to have issues.

By your description I also wonder if there was a cure n seal or other sealer in place. It sounds like you have your floor taken care of and that is the important thing.
