A quick back story, I had a job come up on Thursday that needed done Monday, and it's two hours away. I'll need to terminate a bunch of RG6 coax which I'm not set up to do. I checked out the Klein tools at HD and wasn't too thrilled about them, quality, reviews, or price. I found a nice Ideal set at a local supply house that I was drooling over but again pricey, especially the one available locally.

I ended up buying a no-name, house brand "pro" set from my usual teledata supplier, and try as I might I couldn't get good consistent results. Anyway I was poking around on the net this morning contemplating the Ideal set at $104, and happened across another supply house that had one in stock, in surplus inventory for $37! Luckily they were open until noon on Saturday and I got there just in time.

I just tried them out, very very nice. Far better results and easier than the "pro" set I'd bought. The cable cutters leave a little to be desired, but they're okay. The pouch is extremely well made also. Very good score for needing to find the right tool on such short notice. I might have been fine with a lesser tool, but these types of jobs will hopefully keep coming, and I'm glad to have the good stuff.

Nice score. Quality tools are always worth it -- especially at 1/3 of normal price.
