Hi there,
I am adding outlets to my garage. I have one outlet in the garage and I will be tapping into it to add another outlet. I have some 12 guage MC cable with two insulated copper conductors and one aluminum non-insulated conductor. I will be tapping into the existing metal box with proper cable clamps and red inserts for the MC cable and will be installing a metal box with proper clamps and inserts for the new outlets. My question is this: Should I snip the aluminum non-insulated wire and just use the MC cable's metal exterior as ground?
Thanks.
