As you know i have been trying to sell the last of the phones on ebay. Well long story short while on vacation an auction ended, the guy was trying to tell me after 8 emails that it will fit in a priorty box from uspo. i said no way the only way is to make a box my self.. on the auction page it states $54 bucks shipping but... contact me when auctions over and ill get correct shipping.. easy enough? well he couldnt wait and paid me the full shipping... and while im still away insisted on his diffrence back asap!! The next day i was home i boxed the phone up and got it out, my wife is the paypal holder i asked to her refund the diffrence she got busy that day and forgot well the next day he got the phone..( only nj to ny) now those that have bought them from me know as my ad an emails state they will need paint!! he flipped out said its a piece of junk and right away filed a dispute against me, then instant bad feed back, my 100 % gone. i open a dispute with paypal and offer to refund his money in full, all he has to do is seal up the box ship it back confirmation mail he gets paid from paypal full price.done well he sends me threats thru ebay saying hes gonna fly out here and ...sue me. name calling belittling ect, im biting my tongue trying to be a professional and general good human. well he files a contact request with ebay and gets my personal email , home phone # address ect. then sends me this email:

Big Bad Mad 57 Mopar,
Thanks for the positive feedback that I had retracted! You must think you are smarter than everyone in this world! I told you the facts, pay me the refund for excess shipping charges and pay for the stripping primer, paint and time which is only half of what it really costs. It's actually 70 bucks and I felt that splitting this cost would be fair. Another thing, lying to me really sucked because I do NOT have the change box key. I cannot get into this box and this makes this phone useless. I am will to make a revision on my negative if you comply with my requests otherwise I will ship it back and you can live with this negative for another 51 weeks! I expected a better product and asked that you choose a nice one for my studio and I get this beat up phone. I'd rather spend 1K on a workable phone with the correct keys and also deal with a seller who does not price gouge on shipping. I call it like I see it and you have a chance to redeem yourself. I read your ad clearly and I bid because you ONCE HAD a 100% feedback! You can get that back as soon as you do the right thing. If your arrogance or ego are brused then go to bed and cry yourself to sleepy! You must be pretty MAD now because the Hen outwitted the FOX! I know every trick, rule, and scam that sellers have tried to pull and I have no problems zipping a Negative on a good account to warn others! It's called watch~dogging and you tried ripping off the wrong man. I didn't got to collage for 8 years to get ripped off or lied to. It's your call and step up and be a man, don't blame your wife for your lies! It ***** getting caught huh? Stop being a Know It ALL ***** and maybe things may change!
Have a Wonderful Day!
With Love and Kisses, i left name out!

Nice huh so ebay calls got no where filed harassment plea with ebay have to wait for 24 hrs for them to review . the other emails thru ebay were equally just as bad, what do i do?? call police? i allready offerd full refund now he wants me to send him 70 bucks for professional redo. come on my ad clearly states phones condition. my wife is flipping because all this goes to her palpay account and she fowards it to me, she had bad trouble in past with level one stalker scum and is really nervous. so any advice would be great thks sorry for the long post mad57

This is the reason ebay has none of my personal info....

I had a similar issue, Long time ago.. I made a webpage detailing my nightmare and listed it as his "feedback". I then waited till a lot of his auctions were ending, called up his podunk isp, pretended to be him and canceled his service...

take the neg as a battle scar

Wow...what a load of cr*p!

While I did not see the eBay listing, I did know the condition of the phones before I got one. I knew it was to be a project.

I hope it all works out...this truly stinks.

Advice. We're probably on the same page. I'd forward every bit of correspondence between you two, both to eBay and Paypal. They also can review the listing to make sure what you are saying is accurate. It's hard to bite your tongue, but I think this is what needs to happen now. Just take it easy, be professional, and you should come out on top...and what is it they say about who laughs best?

Post all of his personal information her and let the members of GJ have a crack at him.

I hate dealing with douchebags on ebay. There are so many good buyers and seller out there, but a few angle shooters. This guy sounds like he is just full of himself. Took him 8 years to complete college, he must be a lawyer.

1 negative feedback isn't fun but it is manageable. I would offer him HALF of what he wants you to do and hold on strong. Ebay/PayPal will not rule in his favor unless you blatantly misrepresent your product or do not deliver. I hope you have delivery confirmation.

Don't give in to these scumbags! You as a seller have plenty of rights too!

I do quite a bit of ebay selling, about 300 items a month. Every once in a while you get a ***** like this. First of all I would imagine that this guy will never be happy, so I wouldnt count on him removing any feedback. Its not that big of a deal to have 1 negetive feedback. I think after a year it will not effect your % rating, which is the only thing most people look at anyway. You can add a comment to the negetive feedback explaining you refunded his payment. As far a dealing with him it seems like you are doing the right thing. Just state the facts. The item was well described. I will refund your payment less actual shipping to him and he will have to pay return shipping to you. Paypal will not make you pay for shipping. After you state the facts dont answer any of his emails unless you need to tell him something about the process. You have done everything that you can. He is just trying to bully you. If I had to guess he will come to his senses and not want to fork over the shipping cost both ways on this item. Remember to spar with an idiot is to be one yourself.

It used to be possible to look at buyer feedback to know if you were dealing with an a**hole.

The 8 years of COLLAGE he GOT to obviously didn't result in much of a collection of learning.

Forward everything to Ebay and PayPal and push your case through them. I think they can make the negative go away also.

Once you have the mess cleaned up forget using Ebay and go with CL.

Well ive learned that ebay doesnt care one bit about me, pay pal will refund his money no matter what i do so, he does have to pay for shipping back to me , i must return his payment including shipping as well no biggie, only thing is as per paypal, if he strips this thing to the core, or worst yet puts a brick in a box and pisses on it as long as he sends it with a conformation before i get it back paypal refunds his money in full. And i get to deal with the dispute with paypal. It seems like a no win for sellers any more. My wife is admit about contacting police i say wait should I? thks mad57.

Holy ****. I just went on to his page (E-bay Member id: mrphilwalden), and he routinely gives negative feedback after people give him good feedback. If you read the seller feedback from his negative reviews, he also tries to keep the item after his money was refunded. Another seller pointed out that this nut practices "rating extortion"

[UPDATE] actually, his demands for additional money to paint the phone in trade for a positive rating does seem to violate the e-bay extortion polocy. Here is a link, Read the last one. http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/feedback-extortion.html If you can get him on that, all of his negative reviews, including yours, will be reversed.

This guy is an a$$hole and should be on some sort of blacklist.

Take the hit in your rep and move on.

Well long story short while on vacation an auction ended

Mad,
Too late for this one, but I would never start an auction if I knew that I was not going to be able to respond to questions during the entire auction period.

I have been selling on e-bay for over 10 years and have only had one "dispute" and it was settled in my favor. I obviously have not seen your listing, but I make it a point to identify and show in pictures any and all flaws in any used items I sell. I would rather that it not sell than be accused of missrepresenting something :(

The other thing is, I dont think you have to accept a Pay-Pal payment. I would have refused the payment and then worked out the details with the buyer.

MAD57,
I feel your pain.
I sell car logo and one of a kind air freshenrs on Ebay for $1.99 FREE SHIPPING...
At least once a month I get an ******* that does the same thing as you have dealt with. Now this is over an air freshener for $1.99.
I also have 100% feedback over 6000 positive feedbacks. It is always the person with less than 10 feedbacks.
I have learned you will never win. Ebay/Paypal is a communist regime, the customer is always right. Great news for the customer, ***** for the seller.
I can agree with you not wanting to accept even 1 NEGATIVE feedback. Just based on principle alone !
In dealing with these irrational people , I first type a nasty e-mail back to them... then delete it before I actually send it. This makes me feel a little better. I sleep on it. The next day I give them what they want , refund, more air fresheners etc. It is a bit easier because I sell a low dollar item so I can give some away and not go broke.
I will be pissy and grumpy for about a week over this 1.99 transaction.
I get over it though, life goes on and more orders come in.
Bottom line:
Theres a **** in every crowd.

That says it all... he's what I sarcastically call "high quality people". He is exactly what you were concerned he might be, and he has every intention of bullying you, cheating you, and lying. IMHO, you should completely ignore his emails to you and only deal with eBay and Paypal. I personally would not offer any of his money back. I would not offer to take the phone back. I would not offer any concessions at all.

Also, as an eBay buyer, I don't necessarily consider negative feedback as being a major dent to a seller's reputation unless it is consistent and voluminous. And I am always sure to read the negative feedback and see if the feedback seems reasonable or is just the rantings of some idiot or wacko (I can usually tell).

BTW, I've spent 20 years in college (I'm in dissertation for my doctoral degree now) and the one thing I learned is that a college education can't fix stupid people or jerks.

Couldn't have said it better myself...I actually find myself running into a much lower percentage of idiots in my ebay dealings, vs. when we used to deal with customers in person and over the phone.

I have been an Ebay seller for years. One or two negatives will not hurt your sales at all. Even though I try to satisfy all my customers there are some assholes out there that cannot ever be happy. When I buy on Ebay, I look at the feeback rating and if it is no lower than 99.6 % I will do the transaction. If you have much volume in your sales, it is near impossible to maintain a 100% rating, just too many jerks out there.

I agree! This individual appears to be educated well beyond his intelligence level.

After 8 years in college, you would think he would have learned how to write a decent letter, and would have learned how to spell College.

MAD57, Keep us posted on how this works out.

mrphilwalden just made his comments page private so others can't read the comments that go with the ratings. I guess he don't want other to see what kind of person he really is. Why else would he hide his ratings. I just put him on my blocked bidder list, and suggest everyone else do the same. I don't want this guy buying anything from me.

Google him - you can see many other pages where he's left negative feedback and demanded money or a refund. Seems it is his way of supporting himself. Report him, post a response to his negative comment, and forget about him.

I offered full refund like i did from the start, but i filed it through paypal and ebay, I blocked him from my personal email, not the ebay way but my own father doesnt talk to me like that so to keep my cool and have a paper trail of his comments it all goes through ebay response. I will keep ya posted. On the bright side if i ever get it back ill have one more phone available:) This one will be special highest bidder on here gets it then send bid as a donation to st jude, and ill ship it out. Turn a negative into a positive:) thanks again mad57.

So is this the guy that lives on Bailey Ave in Buffalo?

Could be, before he made his content private, it did say that he was from Buffalo when he sold his son's Fender amplifier. But I cant figure out why that matters, unless someone plans on picking the thing up. Mad57 probably shouldn't say either way.

Maybe you should consider getting your own paypal account if you continue to sell on eBay?
