Had a short circuit today

A cord going thru a connector on a batter charger finally gave it up. No one ever noticed it, on the bottom, all black. Shorted conductors to each other, was actually sitting on a steel bench and could have gone either way. It didn't trip the gfci, the thing is electronic 2 wire.
I have a single circuit to my benches and have a 15 on it, lots of hand tools, I always figured lowering the threshold a little couldn't hurt.

A GFCI wont trip on a line to neutral fault...thats what AFCIs are for...i hope the breaker tripped!

Yes, I know. Yes, breaker tripped. Bench grounded, this probably would have been a poster case scenario for afci.
