Comparing the $39.99 Buy-it-now price with other sets of nut-drivers, (that have fewer drivers in their sets) the $60 shipped does not look too out of line. If you reaaaalllly like them, go for it!

Ah, bummer. Anything on similar screw/nutdrivers with the transparent/acetate handles (in colour!)? Preferably NOT in black as it's almost impossible to find when dropped?

Proto makes a nice looking set with the transparent, colored handles. They are a little on the expensive side if I remember right. I'm looking for the same thing that you are searching for and so far have found the Protos, or drivers that appear to be lower quality based on their appearance and ultra-low price.

Why do they need to be hollow? For the weight? I think you can lift a screwdriver.
I think a solid shaft is stronger, and therefore better, no?
Those USAG sure have a nice vintage thing about them, but when I will be buying nutdrivers (and I will, once I've got some more money to spend ), i'm gonna go for Wera or PBswiss.

I'm guessing so you can have additional room when driving in nuts on a long bolt?

Is the right answer.

Those Xcelites look nice! I've had some tools from Cooper before and they have proven to be good tools. Thanks for the info. Brendan.

Klein bought out Vaco which is a great line also. Vaco and Xcelite were in competition with each other through the 60's and 70's and I think Xcelite had come out on top. Especially since Cooper Industries always promoted the Weller and Diamond products along with the Xcelite stuff to put together a great combination in the electronics production and repair industry. It seemed that the Vaco tools closely mirrored the Xcelite stuff and was also of good quality and I think that's why Klein made the right move to add them to their lineup.

I have had the Craftsman set, w/ the color coded handles for two years. I have not broken any of them and use them regularly. I would recommend them, for the 19.99 Xmas C-club price.

You might also want to look for NOS PB Baumann series 200 if you're intersted in metric nutdrivers with hard handles. This German tool store still offers (some of) them.

Hope this helps,
