Heater Placement

Hey all you guys! How did you guys decide where to place your Mr. Heater MAXX or similar type heater.

My shop is 24x32. I have noticed that most have installed the heaters in the corner. I don't want to have a cold corner or anything like that.

My wall height is 10'. So if I place it in the corner I can keep it near the top and vent out the side. If I place it in the middle, then I need to drop it down about 2 feet and out 18" from the wall.

I like the idea of being in the corner so it is not out so far from the wall.

Any ideas? Thanks

My garage is 20x23 and there are no cold corners. As long as your insulation is good you'll be fine. I have R-13 in the walls and R-38 an the attic.

I put the heater in the corner at a 45 degree angle. The reason I chose that corner is because that's the only corner it could go into.

another vote for a corner, as well as a 42" fan that blows UP in the winter -- evens out the temps very nicely

Thanks for all the input guys. So just a standard 42" ceiling fan would do the job? Would you place it in the center or away from the heater on the other side of the shop?

The ceiling fan idea is a good one. I plan on installing a couple in my garage whenever I can find two CHEAP used fans that match.

I would think that you could put a single fan in the center of your garage and run it in reverse. That should circulate enough air.

Place the fan in the center,one of those industrial white units will move a lot more air than a wooden bedroom type unit.Don't forget the speed control,the fan at max speed will be like a hurricane in there.

Excellent. I found some at Lowes for about $20. No lights and 3 speed fan. Seems decent. Where do you find industrial ceiling fans?
