Hey all,
I'm in the planning process of building a new garage. Currently I've got the garage my grandfather built 50 years ago. 6 1/2' door, 22'x24', not quite an 8' ceiling. There used to be a pit in the floor, but the walls were never re-inforced properly and they started caving in, which is now allowing the walls to move. There is a gravel parking pad next to the garage.
What I'm thinking right now is a 32'x25' garage/shop. 8' double door offset to one side, and the other side to be a work area (I may frame in for a single door just in case I want to add it in the future). I'm thinking scissor trusses for extra height. 2x6 construction, as much insulation as I can to keep it warm/cool as needed, exhaust fans for when welding, etc etc.
I'm not sure which way to go for heat yet, but I'm leaning towards a ceiling mount forced air. Maybe in slab, but all the necessary equipment takes up a good chunk of room.
When I get closer to building it, I'll post up the google sketchup drawings and plans.
