Hello gentlemen.

My name is Tony and I live in the soggy Pacific Northwest. I recently purchased a new construction home and will be moving in very soon. I came her because I'm finally moving into a house that has a nice garage. I want to have the floor painted before we move in. I've got a 1 week window from the time I get the keys until we have moves move us in.

I served 9 years in the US Marines and used to fix and crew the CH-53E heavy lift cargo helicopter. It was a fun job and I miss it a lot. I took the picture in my profile on the deck of the USS Tripoli in 1994.

I now live in the Portland metro area and I build, test and install custom laser based machines from the ground up.

You may have known my son. He was on 53's during the desert storm and got out just after 9/11. He now has his own construction company south of Salem.

Tony: i usually hang in Vintage tools area, but i tend to move around cause lots to learn here.

since i also live in the VERY SOGGY PNW at least this year you might want to wait to paint your garage's floor until it warms up. i know it's a pain to have to move things out of the garage and then back in, but your paint will cure so much better once our weather gets to the 70's (sort of like yesterday) and when it doesn't get to the 40's in the evenings. here's a link to the PNW thread if you might want to get to know a few of the members sort of near you.

some of the guys have put casters on their racks so when they need to access the entire garage they just roll it out to the driveway and here's Tomco's thread showing one example. look at post #179 on his thread and earlier in his thread or maybe it's another thread of his he has a lot of pictures of his garage's racking on wheels.

I just may know him. We're a small community and at the very least, we will know some of the same people. What squadron was he with? I was with HMH-466 from 1992 until around 1997. Then I was with HMH-769. I enlisted in December of 1991 and got out in February of 2001.

My daughter ended up following in my footsteps and she enlisted in the Marines 2 years ago, right out of high school, just like I did, and she's deploying soon. I never thought that she'd be the wartime veteran, and not me. That one took me by surprise.

Well hopefully it won't be a factor. I looked up annual average temps for the area and we're supposed be be in the 68˚ to 74˚ range when we get the keys.

I absolutely have to do it before we move in, otherwise, it won't happen at all. I started a thread in the flooring section of the forum.

I'd try to hold off as long as you possibly can to do the floor. This was about the wettest winter in decades, give that slab time to dry out. Anyway you can get a window cracked and a high-velocity fan on it in the meantime?

I finally remembered to ask him and he was in the HMH-361 out of San Diego. That would have been in the 1999-2001 time frame.
