Hello!

I am an aspiring small farmer in the foothills of Placer County, CA. I found this forum while doing research on my Miller Knuth 3156 Power Hacksaw. My dad found it in a thrift store in Fallon, NV. We were able to see this tool in action before a missing spring tensioner resulted in the saw arm jumping back and breaking off on the concrete floor! I found a specialty welder outside Reno, NV that was able to weld the cast iron saw arm back together. Now that the arm has been repaired I have been reading everything I can find on this saw. I have taken it all apart, cleaned every part, and am in the process of rebuilding. Trying to find the missing spring tensioner or how to build a new one. Also, trying to figure out proper lubricants for the machine when the manual uses vague terms like lubricant with adhesive and good grade motor oil. Reading the threads on this forum tells me I am in the right place. People with experience, knowledge, and love of these old machines trying to preserve history and help each other.

Welcome cbfarmer! I'm just down the hill from you in Sac. There's a vintage tools thread somewhere in here you might find interesting. Hope the smoke isn't as choking up there as down here.
