Hi everyone, my name is Rich Truesdell and I found out about the Garage Journal board by accident. You see I'm the editor of the new online-only publication Automotive Traveler and it seems that when I did a deep Google search of activity related to "automotive traveler" I found that my partner in AT, Bill Basore, is an active member here and had started a thread relating to our launch. I looked over the comments and suggestions about AT and felt that I needed to join up as well.

One of the members posting in the thread I discovered mentioned it would be good to mention Garage Journal in some way and I think I have an idea to accomplish that goal in a very unique way. Each month we publish a department called "our cars, your cars" in which we run two-page profiles on one of the staff/contributor cars and on reader cars. I was thinking that it should be no problem to make one of the reader-supplied vehicle features have a garage focus, with the large lead image show a wide angle view of the owner's car in his/her garage in the background.

My only hesitation is getting the necessary photography; it would probably require the opening shot to be taken with a very wide angle lens, 15mm or less, on a digital SLR. My question is this, do you all think that given the size of this group, that at least a half dozen of you submit some photos of your garages to me, so that as editor, I can see if I can sustain something like this on a monthly basis? If so, please send your photos - six for each profile should do the trick - and 200 to 300 words describing you and your car and garage to me at [email protected] and I will see what we can do. If I can get a handle on this quickly, there's a good chance that we can incorporate this into issue three, which is in production right now and is scheduled to publish on July 1.

Personally speaking, my garage is a mess; not only do I have to contend with the problem of too many cars and not enough space, I have to contend with the storage needs of things beyond cars, like my collection of automotive and travel books and magazines, although this problem is not confined to just my garage. I'm sure that if I poke around long enough, I'll find some solutions.

As soon as I finish my own story for issue three, a family tour of Scotland in the Ford Focus Coupe-Cabriolet we don't get here in the US, I'm going to poke around deeper here. From what I can see, many of you are prolific and passionate writers on all things garage-related. I hope that some of you, especially when you have great road trip stories to share, will come and join our forums as well.
