Help Identifying Ratchet??

There may be a thread already out there for ID'ing tools, if so Ill be happy to move it..but its about 5 inches long..No makers mark/brand anywhere..and I know next to nothing about tools other than how to use them..sorry

Anyways..any help or advice is appreciated..

Possibly 1/4" drive ratchet used in aerospace/aircraft assembly??? Looks similar to CL listings.

Red paint likely deterrent from fellow worker stealing it !!

It is definitely a 1/4 inch..sorry, thought I got that I got that in there.. It really has had a hard life life..lol.. It looks like a 4 year old beat the paint off with a hammer..It is a heavy duty little thing though.. a lot heavier than I expected.. I found it in a barn on the farm I bought and was just curious..most of the older tools here are so beat up that its hard to tell what they are..this was just something I hadnt seen before..

Never thought about the paint being for that..figured it was a brand thing because the entire thing is painted..learned something new already

Maybe the farmer painted it to go with his red tractor??

Cool ratchet, only thing that I have seen that is even close is an SK Frankenstein, and I don't believe it is one of those, the head is to narrow.

I've seen a lot of that little unmarked one over the years but I can't think of a name...

I have one identical to yours. Mine has a center line scribed down both the front and the back of the ratchet head which made me think it may have been home made, but seeing yours makes me think otherwise.

I have the same ratchet. See the link in the post that I quoted. This ratchet has been discussed here at GJ and a couple of other forums. I don't believe that the manufacturer has been positively identified. It seems that a few guys believe that it was made by Wright. Patent US 2701977 sure looks similar to the ratchet in question. Wright is the maker most likely. Those came in cheap socket sets in the 60's and 70's. A plastic case with a clear top. The hinges always broke on the boxes. The sockets were lead soft and few survived regular use.

A cool keepsake but a poor user ratchet. They hold little value but it seems guys collect them.

This is the set that they came in, no name. Like what has been said, el'cheapo, but still kind of a cool little ratchet.
