I am a tool nut just like everyone else here but help me understand something. Why do some buy EVERY color available Snap On tool? Like ratchets, ratcheting screwdrivers, screwdrivers, pick sets etc. I own a lot of snap on tools but I only have a 1 set of screwdivers/torx drivers and they are even mis-matched colors. I dont color cordinate my tools I buy whats in stock and what I need. This is not a knock on the guys that do it so please dont take it this way. I just never saw tools as something collectible. I buy them to use. The only duplicate tools I have are at home, road and shop.

Because if you didn't spend a couple hundred dollars a week on the Snap-on truck, what else would you spend it on? Paying off your credit line with them?

One cabinet has all the orange, the next cabinet has all yellow, next is all green etc. The oldest cabinet houses all the plain chrome. The opposite wall has the same array in metric. :eyecrazy:

I could see some logic in having 1/4" in one colour, 3/8" a different colour and 1/2" in a 3rd. colour. Screw drivers could be the same with flat, philips and robertson all different colours.

Being color blind I don't fool around to much with colors, what I find is that I can only buy mostly used tools, how someone can afford all new let alone multiple sets is beyond my reasoning but more power too them!

I can see the ultimate collector wanting too complete the whole collection of course that would mean buying one of everything but who among us is that wealthy?

The one thing that I would say for all tool companies is thank you for making those ultra bright neon orange/yellow color handles at least that is something that stands out in a dark compartment as opposed to the black handles that I tend to lose.

i'm not a collector,

that being said, i have collected some single screwdrivers with different colors from SO.

for me it's not an "i have to have *** color right now."
if i see one used, on the cheap, at a lea mkt or garage sale, i'll pick it up if i have the cash on me.
kinda the same with everything else i buy :lol_hitti

i dont check the classifieds, ebay or CL. it's not that important to me, to others it is, and i understand where they are coming from.

collectors need to "understand" that my tools have been subjected to some kind of abuse for 25+ years, i dont have much thats shiney anymore. :eyecrazy:

Right now I'm wishing the transmission fluid in my car was the same color as BHH's collection. It would make finding the leak a piece-a-cake. :D

I guess I really dont understand the collecting part. I have seen pics on here of Snap On screwdriver sets in every color in one drawer of a tool box. I guess I am different I buy my tools to use. I bought a NOS orange Snap On 45 degree angle ratcheting screwdriver from a member here and he was suprised that I was actually using it. I just dont understand buying tools to just look at and do nothing else.

i keep my stuff at home pretty clean, and organized, and when i worked in the shop it was pretty much the same way.
after 8 continuous years in 2 different service trucks, in all kinds of weather, i barely wipe the grease and oil off anything anymore. :eek7:

My theme is rust w/ some chrome. I spend 1/20 what the HF (who knows about snappy guys) guys do and I have 10 times the tools. Bling doesn't make a good tool.

Then again, I don't do it for a living and can troll for real tools.

yeah, but on the downside he loses tools inside of his toolbox because its all the same color. I like contrast. It helps me to find what i'm looking for quicker.

It's called organization. I know exactly where everything is. I can grab any tool in the dark if I needed to.... And not because they nearly glow in the dark :p

The cell phone pics make it look a bit more bright then it actually is. It really isn't as blinding in person.

I completely agree Brownsfan.

I;ve got this guy down the street just off I-75 (about 250 miles south of you) that I suggested buy a Toyota Camry as a daily driver and a Ford F-150 as a hauler and be done as practical advice.

Meanwhile, he tends to have a high cash flow so he has this set up.
I warned him.

Money and buying power. It's totally overrated. I agree.
:)
Hahahaha.
