Hi all.

Kinda annoyed. I have been banned twice now, on two different accounts, I just want to know why.

On my primary account, I posted a quick little powershell code, to help people generate random Lowes discounts. I also posted the same thing on Slickdeals.net, and it's helped a few people out.

Then I was banned, with no message to me, and when I tried to log into the account, it doesn't state a reason, and it says it will never be lifted.

I registered another account. Made ONE post in reply to a thread (for the life of me I can't remember what), but it wasn't any code of anything special.

I messaged both Admins in the Hot Deals area, asking about what happened, and got no response.

Banned again a few days later.

Am I missing something? I'm frustrated. Simply because I've enjoyed reading the site thus far, and I just don't know what I did wrong! I just wanted to participate, and help out.

I rechecked all the FAQ's I could find and I don't think I did anything in violation, and trying to hit up the "Contact Us" area is a dead end since you need to be a registered user apparently.

Help me please.

Offering code for script kiddies, that allows one to generate random Lowe's discounts is something that could pose a very expensive liability to the list owners. It matters not whether you think it is your right/job/purpose to do so, they set the standards and enforce their policy. What you call helping others out, may be criminal in some parts of the world/states.

Anything NOT about the first line, should likely be off limits, at least until you get some posts (100 or so) and people can see that you contribute.

Well, I understand where you are coming from!

However, there is a dedicated coupon code thread over there. This "generator" literally, only helps someone pick a set of 4, and 1 random numbers.

As I stated previously, I didn't see anywhere this was frowned upon, or prohibited.

You'd be surprised how hard it is to actually (as a human) pick RANDOM numbers, you tend to unconsciously have favorite numbers.

Criminal? I think that might be a stretch, though I could be wrong, it's commonly done on Slickdeals.net, with nary a mention of legality. These are currently offered codes and not "hacking" or searching for hidden flaws or discounts in their system.

As far as accepting help, I thank you for yours. I certainly understand it.

I wish this could have been actually addressed to me instead of an abrupt ban.

Might I suggest that something of this sort be added to the FAQ's?

Your first post looks like nothing more than spam, which will basically get you banned instantly here. Then, once you've been banned, you come back again under a new name. That too will get you banned. Having been banned twice already, you come back for more. You're definitely starting off on the wrong foot.

That too will get you banned. Having been banned twice already, you come back for more. You're definitely starting off on the wrong foot.

I made a mistake, looked like spam. Got it. Bannable, as it should be. I would have appreciated being let known, BUT by that same token, why would you really care to give a spammer an explanation.

So I made an account, which, the name of, literally screams the intention of it, I made one post because I had something to say that was basic, and messaged two Admins looking for help.

I tried the webform, didn't hear from anyone for, I believe over a week (time is hazy with young twin boys).

So here I am. My third account here.

I like the site. You folks owe me NOTHING, and I thank you for taking the time to look into this, and at least talk to me.

I also genuinely mean this. Can you give me a path to get on the right foot?

They know your IP address....if you create a second account, that is an instant ban.

I'm an 'established' member....but I'd get banned in a second if I created a new account.

I think the mods are being very nice. Do exactly what they say.....and be grateful they are being accommodating.

Figured it was IP, or a cookie\browser GUID, maybe Tapatalk.

They are. I just want to explain I'm not looking to keep doing this, I've never been banned from a site, so I just wanted to figure things out.

I am thankful they are speaking to me, and taking the time to look this over.

I believe we have worked this out. I also believe it is resolved. We do try to look after members here and SPAM and scammers do not go over well at all.

Yes, That is Simon and it looks like he may have the issue resolved by his above posts.

If I ban a spammer, they are not going to be able to read a message that I sent to them. I'm definitely not going to email them a little note, I get enough spam currently, no need for more.

As for the message to the two Moderators in the Hot Deals section, I'd guess that one was bmwpower and the other was Ryan ? Ryan is site owner and it's his discretion to as what goes here, much like you do in your own home.

Keep in mind, not all the Moderation staff visits the site everyday. They have lives like the rest of us and sometimes it takes a while for a communication to get responded to. Simon lives down under and you are in I believe NY, that's half a world apart yet he is taking the lead with your issues.

We try to take care of our own here at GJ. There is a minimum post count to place a classified ad. This was implemented to try to help protect our members from scammers.

Now, if your issue has been resolved, welcome to GJ, stick around and become a productive member. I might suggest that you edit your profile to include a general location. If you ask questions about your garage, like insulation, foundations or heating, it'll help your fellow members give you the proper advice for your location.

Thanks Eric, I was going to post much the same but you have posted it here before me.

As I posted earlier I believe this is resolved. We did have a few spammers on the forum at the same time and we do not waste time contacting them. Moderators have a life to live and wasting time on spammers is simply that a waste of time.
