Help with replacement lock cylinder vintage Mac tool box

I recently finished restoring a Mac MB 5200 K2 rolling tool box from the 1980's. This toolbox has a lock on the face of the front of the box that twists a long rod. At the end of the rod is a 45 degree offset that pushes a flat bar up. When the flat bar is up, the locking hooks raise up to let the drawers out. Anyways, I went to unlock the box today and the lock cylinder just continuously spun. I was able to get the center drawer out and push the flat bar up manually to release the drawers, but only temporarily, as the flat bar is held down via spring tension. I started unscrewing things and what I believe to be the internals of the "lock cylinder" just popped out. A little brass colored spring flew out. The lock was giving me problems so I figured it was on it's last leg. Does anyone know if this lock cycling part can be replaced with a generic part? The lock cylinder has female threads in it and the rod has male threads.
