I need some of your expertise here guy's. I need to figure wire size for a run. Run length is 860, 3ph, 208/120.Load at the end of the run is 40A. I can put a boost at the end of the run to take care of voltage drop Just want to know where is the trade off between the wire size and the transformer cost?

well, youre going to need 250 size wire for 40 amps at that distance. is the service to the building 120/208, or is there 480 available? What is the load, is it something that is going to be compatible with a boost transformer?

That's not a good idea.

You can use step up/down transformers though.
