Has anyone heard anything about the plasma cutter and tig welder that Harbor Freight has for sale?
I am working on a budget and would like a plasma cutter( around $600) and have always wanted to start tinkering with tig welding (around $299).
I under stand you get what you pay for but try and give me some constructive info please.

No, but what part of this is a product review?:headscrat

Personally, the old "get what you pay for" is true, especially when it comes to cheap equipment of that nature. I bought a cheap plasma, it works, but doesn't do as nice as it should. I figured it was my inexperience. Went to the welding supply and they had one hooked up, I cranked it up, and it went like a champ. So, it's not me.

Anyway, HF is the last place on earth I would go for this stuff. As for a $299 tig welder...well, that's just laughable at best.:spit:

You may want to look into a combo machine by a reputable company. Some do plasma/tig/arc in one package.

Hey Crawler, I already have a Miller 200 series mig and do alot with that so the combo thing is not really an option, I have the torch for cutting the metal but the grinding thing is always such a pain. I saw the plasma in the ads for HF and was wondering if someone had any experience with it. I was weighing the options of a used plasma but then a new one with a two year warranty option is always good too. Most everyone that has a used one talks about only using it once or twice and they are usually three to five old. Not sure they are telling the truth sometimes so buying used is always a gamble.

:headshake I have plenty of HF stuff. However, he won't be very proud of that plasma when it doesn't work with a ****. I bought one that's a far cry from the HF one, yet I'm still kicking myself in the *** for doing so.
