I have a new 45k hot dawg heater I need installed and converted to propane. After installation there will be inspections. The problem I'm encountering is that there a many guys willing to hang it, but they're not licensed plumbers. I don't want to run the risk of paying someone to install it and then failing inspection because some ones' license had expired or whatever. Any suggestions guys? Whoops...and gals? Also, what's the price range to hang and install the heater? Plan on using ever thread through the ceiling of my shop pictured at the left (formerly a stout hay barn).

Does the inspection require that the heater is hung and installed by a licensed/bonded HVAC installer, or are they just inspecting it to make sure it is done properly?

In my part of the world, the inspections are done to verify the work was done properly and meets any/all code requirements. They don't care if you are licensed or not.

I think you need to determine what is compliant . here a gas fitter has to do the connections. anyone can "hang " the heater . not sure on the venting, probably falls in to the gas fitters realm.
I hung mine, did the venting and called in a gas guy I know to hook up the nat gas.
important to follow the manufacturers specs in the manual .

How does HVAC get installed in that county if you need a plumber to hang a unit heater?

Same here. Hung the heater, installed the venting, had a gas fitter hook up the gas and light the fires.

I installed and hooked up my Big Maxx including placing the 120 gallon pig outside. The propane company installed a new regulator on the tank and checked the installation and said everything was good to go.

Can't do it yourself?

I installed the heater in my shop, ran the pipe, did the electrical, and installed the vent........5+ years now, zero issues

Under $800 total investment cost
