seems to be a "luxury" I can not afford. Guess I still have to use my rear view mirror and make that half turn with my hand on the back of the passenger seat.... sigh

A friend of mine that worked for a VERY wealthy family, told me that they had this in one of their garages. This same family had their own Church Chapel on site and an underground bunker also. Back to the turntable...... would be nice to have at times I'm sure.

"I'm so rich, I only drive forwards".

I'm annoyed at any owner of this. If you you have the money to put in something like this, why not jsut make your driveway big enough to turn arouns in?

I think these would be cool if space is at a premium! That being said I would so have one!!!

Cool. Would be really cool in areas where space is at a premium or where visibility when exiting onto street is an issue.

Could park your car/buike on it, get a beer and lawnchair and watch the car/bike turn around and around. Would definitely have to paint the Batman logo on it though!

How hard could it be to design and build one ?

I bet Red Green could make one with an old cement mixer, a couple of shopping buggy wheels , the neighbor's patio deck and a couple of rolls of duct tape.

My idea of a confined space 180 degree turn is called a "Rockford". I never met anyone but Batman that needed one of those. BUT - there's some tiny spaces in the UK.

I remember reading an article some years ago about one of these installed in a house in central London.

The home owners converted their basement into a garage, but with the house being right on a very busy street they had to drive into the garage, as they couldn't block the road, by turning to reverse in. Then, as it is illegal to reverse out onto the street, they installed a turntable, so they could turn the car around once inside, to allow then to drive out.

For someone who lives less than two hours' from NYC, you seem oddly unfamiliar with the concept of a townhouse

It's pretty rural in my part of NJ. In fact, only the (maybe) top 3rd of the state is densely populated. We are called the "Garden State" for a reason.

BTW, I wrote that before I noticed that the site is for UK buyers. There, yeah i guess I can see a justification for it.

My buddy's dad put one of those in a house he just built. it is needed in his house because his house is on the side of a mountain and he doesnt have much of a driveway. he was afraid that his wife might back out slightly wrong and fall off the side.

also he is not rich, he dumped his retirement investments into the house.

Newark and the general Exit 13 area of the TurnPike is part of an elaborate ploy to prevent outsiders from moving to the state. The same state agency produced 'the Sopranos' and 'Jersey Shore.'

NJ is actually a place of stupendous beauty, elegance and culture, and we work hard to keep the place from being overrun after seeing what happened to places like CA and NC which weren't so cautious.

Cool idea, I'm sure I could use one of those on mine, driving up and driving down would make it WAY quicker to get in/out of my garage. (not sure if anyone on this board has been to my house, but if you did you'd agree) But I'd rather spend that money of a lift. In a perfect world I would have both and my house finished, but it's not a perfect world ;)

yea, i live in one of the more densely populated suburbs of nyc, im only 30mins by car. we still have large lots in my neighborhood, but its old, the newest house on my street is 80y/o. i could still see the use for one of those. i live on a busy street at rush hour, and also have a long narrow drive way. its sometimes very hard to back up the drive, esp when towing a trailer. with one of those i could put the trailer on it and spin it around easy

This item would be ideal for seniors, or those that might have a physical disability.

Thank you for arming me with this statement the next time I get lumped in with those jackasses from Jersey Shore, the Sopranos, Toxic Waste, the Turnpike, and anyone who asks "what exit are you from".

I live about 5 miles from what use to be a railroad town. They had a large building that was called the roundhouse; it in fact was round, had a GIANT turntable that was used to turn the locomotives. Long since gone, but I did have the privilege of seeing it for myself years ago.
