Hot Dawg Vent Leaking

I installed my Hot Dawg heater this past winter, and it has been great. I have it vertically vented per the manual. Had a driving rain earlier this week, and noticed water had leaked down the pipe and out the bottom of the (plugged) vent tee leg. Have a high wind cap on the pipe also, as this is definately a high wind area. My drill press is below this, and I now have some rust on the table and pedastal. Anyone every encounter this and have any suggestions on this leaking issue?

Sorry for the Delay...It's been crazy over here lately.

Alright, My pics show what I have. That is a Simpson/Duravent High Wind Cap. I have never had any dripping and just last night we had one hell of a down pour with 50+ MPH winds. I pulled off my T-cap today and there was not a drop to be found. But there were possible signs of previous water...little brown (rust?) spots and white (hard water?) spots. My T-Cap fits in there so tight the vent would have to be pretty full for it to leak. Maybe try some different hardware.

I've got just about exactly the same set-up as yours, including Simpson pipe. I will have to go over all the joints again to be sure they are secure. Did you tape or otherwise seal your joints at all?

No tape or sealant anywhere. There are no joints on the outside except where the Cap screws on. It can't hurt to add some High-Temp sealant.

I was more curious if the joints on the interior could have been leaking, i.e. picking up water through the storm cap, draining down the inside of the vent and then exiting at the joints to the Tee piece. There weren't any "water tracks" so couldn't tell exactly where it came from or exited at. I'm betting what little evidence of water you had in your Tee cap came from the to be expected condensation the unit produces.
