plastic type flooring sound in your garage?

got some samples of flooring today...had inquired about racedeck and swiss trax...(could be misspelled). anyhow snapped them together and walked on them and it has a ringing hollow plastic sound... does this go away when they are all snapped in place of does it remain when the floor is installed?

i like the look and how it seemed to bounce back from the redneck impact test....only thing i didn't care for was the hollow sound when walked on....

Sounds like a dog with long toe nails walking on a vinyl floor.

its not bad at all...I never even noticed it until a few years after I had the floor installed and someone here mentioned the noise. I went home and yes, there is some noise but its so minor I never even noticed it.

Come by and walk on mine if you are anywhere near.

thanks for the answers guys... i guess it wouldn't be bad...now that you mention it my laminate flooring in the kitchen is the same way... for some reason it was really noticeable the other day on the two pieces i had...course an empty garage probably amplified it...

The colder the climate, the louder it seems to get. There are other alternatives manufactured in PVC that do not make hollow sounds. Maybe that would be a way to go for you?

Some people on this board have placed landscaping felt under the racedeck to eliminate the clacking noise. Just an option...

with millions of feet sold every year, we really get very little complaint about the sound. But, for those who do not like it, we do have solutions to reduce the sound with special underlayment.

What is the underlayment and additional cost?

If you are cleaning under the tiles, you would also remove the underlayment the same time as you remove the tiles . What exactly are you going to clean under the floor, other than major spills?
