how long should the pumps run?

well i finally got my boiler re plumbed and pressurized, so now i have the pumps on and i am letting it "purge" the remaining air from the system.how long should i let the pumps run before i can safely energize the boiler?
i really dont want to fry another one.

How are you purging the air out of the loop? Typically, I use a purge valve/hose bib,etc on the return and will run a hose to the system, run water thru the system until I ge twater only and no air. You will be running higher water pressure to the system as your boiler is working at 30# or less. Do you have a Spirovent on the system. They, in my experience are the best. Your circulator is not designed to move the air. It is in fact a circ and not a "displacement pump". You could run it for a long time and not get the air out.

well i did that i ,purged each individual loop and then the system itself until water/glycol ran out with no air but I'm sure there were small bubbles still in the system.
and yes i do have an air eliminator mounted above the expansion tank.
