I bought a Lincoln AC/DC 225 welder and need to know if I can use a 30 amp plug. My electrician told me I can run it off my dryer plug as long as I don't have it turned up all the way. Does anyone else run theirs off a dryer plug? The dryer is 30 amp, pretty sure.

I made a short adapter cord with a 30 amp female plug for the welder to go to the dryer plug.

Thanks in advance.

I have a Lincoln Precision TIG 225 that has a 50A plug so I installed a 50A receptacle for it. I could probably run the adapter to my dryer but run the risk of opening the breaker when I put the pedal down on some thicker work. What plug does it have on it?

This machine is designed to run from a 50A circuit, a dryer is really,,, makeshift at best. The wire is fine but often trips the breaker although many guys use it, it pulls a little less on the DC side which is where you want to use it anyway, could always try it and see, but i am a fan of running the wire and circuit when I get a new tool.

In my old shop I ran my Lincoln tombstone welder on a 30 amp circuit for almost 10 years...but I understood the limitations and rarely used it over the 90 amp setting on the welder. I now have it on a 50 amp circuit. JMHO.
