Sometimes I wonder how hacks get away with this type of work. Sure epoxy will bond to wood but the seams or joints need to be addressed. Wood expands and contracts, even indoors. Vertical movement is not something we can address, but we can stop or avoid wrecks like this with the proper material and attention.
We just got contracted to repair and resurface this floor. We begin and finish next Monday. We'll start by screwing down any vertical movement, then seams will be chased open and filled with a fast cure flexible resin. We'll then use the same product and fiberglass tape to weld the seams together. Finally we'll resurface with a fast cure Polyaspartic chip system.
This is the right way to apply over wood. Except that if this was my project from the beginning, we would have spec'd tongue and groove plywood and because of having to be finished in a day, I would of preferred to use a flexible resin membrane as primer first.
