how often are roll up door guides lubricated?

They told me to use spray silicon grease and that works about 2 weeks until it evaporates. I take white lithium grease straight from a 14oz grease gun and spread it up and down with my fingers. Seems to work good. I just don't ever recall having to do it at a shop I used to work at. Never had any issues at all with those doors getting hung up etc.

EDIT: Lets clear up some confusion here. You guys aren't using the correct terminology. Roll up doors roll up around a barrel. Overhead doors ride on rails which have individual little wheels and also stay overhead up in the air when raised up. It doesn't actually roll up, it just raises up overhead.

You grease the tracks?
Spray some lube on the bearings in the rollers and call it good. The grease would attract dirt which will cause more wear.

^ If you're talking about a roll-up garage door in a house, I put "Fluid Film" on the roller thingies and it stopped that awful squealing and howling. YMMV.

I only lube the bearings on the rollers - if they are functioning correctly, they roll up the track. The only reason I can see to lube the track is if you are trying to drag a frozen roller up the track.

Don't lube the tracks, only the bearings inside the roller wheels and the axle that goes through the hinge pivot and the hinge pivot itself. Those three places will cure all the squeaks. I like to use spray Lithium grease like this:

Used to be Anually but in the last couple of years since the wife health went south
that time maybe get serviced every couple of years, plus my memory has slowed down.
Now it seems finding my tools is the problem, but as usual they are right there on top of
my bench where I left them.
