how to remove KRL lock cylinders

ive seen my driver do it, but he's nowhere in sight, you put the key in, then magic? the whole thing comes out?

halp

i want to match my new box with my old locks:thumbup:

Put the key in, then turn the collar while holding pressure in on the key until you find the spot. You will know what I mean when you feel it. While holding pressure on the key, turn the key to the lock position and then go 45 degrees past the lock position. The key cylinder should come out then. Sometimes it feels like the key will not turn past the lock position but it will as long as the collar is in the right spot and you are pressing in while turning the key.

today, my lock cylinder came out of the box when i locked it.

i foozled with it for some time, and decided there was a trick i was missing.

i googled "snap on lock cylinder removal", and this thread came up as the first hit. read the second post, twisted the ring around, and saw it "line up", put the cylinder back in, and it allowed me to turn the key back to the lock position and remove the key, while the cylinder stayed in the box.
