I can get it about flush with the body but it has to go 1/2 inch deeper. Using a socket and it just compresses the seal without driving it further in. Would putting the seal in the freezer help? Hardening and shrinking it.

I normally just use a seal pick/spoon and wedge it between the threads and seal and while prying inward push it down with another blunt tool, slowly working my way around. I’m assuming that the seal isn’t tapered, it doesn’t appear to be, but some are.
Well, I got it in and installed the valve but no joy. Get no jack action. Topped off with jack oil, watched all the youtube videos on bleeding but no change. Tried bleeding a dozen times without improvement. Did what I should have done in the first place, order a new one. $36 delivered to my door.
