What is everyone's opinion of the Husky 41" tool chest? I am looking for a box to replace my Sears box at work that is too small and falling apart.

Which box do you mean? I just bought the last 41" Husky box for $369.

Both bottom and top box. Ball bearing drawers. I like it. It is still in the box at the moment until the shop floor and electrical is done.

I needed another box and I like the full width drawers for the long tools.

The Husky boxes are alright for light duty use. The techs that go through the school program through our company recieve a 40" Husky box with SK tools. If you don't use the long drawers for all your sockets and heavy tools the box will probably last. Just don't expect to overload each drawer as guys do with SO, Mac and Matco boxes. They are just not made the same.

Ive got the same 23 drawer combo and I added 2 side boxes for more room. I know for a fact that the older red Pro boxes were made in the same plant in Canada that made the Mac boxes. The older Mac side boxes are the same as the boxes that I have but the Husky sides have slide drawers not ball bearing. I had a heck of a time getting the second side box. I had to "import" it from a place in Canada. It seems the factory produces boxes for Beach tools also. I know Stanley tool is the parent company of the red Husky box but I know the new black boxes in the HD stores are very different. Less drawers and the drawers "snap" closed when they reach a certain point. Dont know if they are made in the same place or even if they are owned by Stanley. Someone out there must have more info. Im very happy with the boxes that I have. They seem to be holding up well.

How deep is this box? I was looking at it at my local HD and I thought it was only 16" or 18" deep.

I've got the combo at work: had a lock keeper fall off once, got it back on okay, but that's the only problem I've ever had: I've been pretty happy with it.

exact thing what i did!!! i did own mac tool 41 in wide 4 years ago as bought new one. i had it almost 9 months and everything in mac tool are heavy and overload on slides. my former mac tool guy said mac tool will warranty the slides BUT told me to upgrade to tech serie or macsimzer... i told mac tool regional manager go away after i filed the complaints about service from my mac tool guy and manager that try to encourage me to upgrade so i have big debt for stupid problems on bearing slides....

So my snap on guy has used KRL1001 so i traded in my mac tool and paid cash because that KRL1001 was from other tech who work with me and my snap on guy dont want that box load in so sold me for much cheap...

Now i outgrew my old boxes so i bought KRL1203 on craig list and traded in the KRL1001 for KRL1003 as paid cash again but that KRL1003 are older model so cheaper price for me and my snap on guy because all slides on KRL1003 are dust and rough to open... but i told my snap on guy warranty it so he did... i am so happy with my KRl1203 and KRL1003 but now i am worry about casters....

I have a 41"husky box.Its made in canada, stamped right into the back of the box.I bought it new a year ago and have been looking for something better ever since. Its built more as a homeownwers box in my opinion. When its loaded up and rolled across the floor to another bay it reminds me of a wave.Everything kind of shimmies as it rolls.I keep waiting for the wimpy plastic wheels to crack when I move it.When I open and close the drawers you can see the whole unit flex. Its a cheap box so thats kind of what I figured it was going to be when I bought it,but at the time my Snap on was out of commision and I needed a box to get me through till I could find something better.

Im curious Caper, is your box the newer style or does it look like the red one in the picture above ? I think the newer boxes only come in black and have less drawers.

Mine is all black but the exact same configuration as the red one pictured. It's made by waterloo as per the paperwork inside the box.Only had a year warranty thru them but homedepot said they will warranty it for life. The way its built I figure I'll be taking them up on it before to long.

Husy is a 'brand' not a maker and thus the four Husky boxes I've worked on were all different from each other. The one I kept is a Waterloo and while it's a strange design (51 inches high, 6 drawers), it is a good box.
The lighter ones where made by Stanley. And I sold them...
So when you ask about 'Husky' it's like saying 'Black tool box'.
Some are good, some are not.

I wouldn't buy any without REALLY looking it over, loading a drawer, opening and closing all the drawers. Then make the call on that box.

Husky, through Home Depot, has great phone service. I've gotten keys, slides, etc. free with no hassle. A pleasure to deal with, exact opposite of Sears phone help.

Well, the dimensions listed on the box are 18.3" deep, so that leads me to believe it is probably 16".

I haven't busted it out yet.

Its on my list....
