What is the percentage Made in the USA? Motor is Honda, but everything else is Made in the USA, Correct?

Super quiet, about same weight, TONS AND TONS of power, excellent feed system, no 2 stroke oil to mix, no 2 stroke oil to gum up carb while sitting....

Only complaint is it feels like the motor needs to be further from the controls, might see if I can move them forward about 2 inches. Talked a friend into buying same one, he loves it as well, and doesn't agree about the ackward feeling I complain of with motors and controls... (Maybe I hold it weird?)

Thadru2001, if you want one I would recommend ordering it.... it showed the same thing when my buddy orderd his and it showed up at his store less then 2 weeks after he ordered it.

It looks like it is not returnable, and only has 1 month manufacturer's warranty.

They also sell this on Amazon. The reviews over on Amazon don't look as good as the one on Northern. There are also other sellers on Sears marketplace.

I'd ask Northern what the return policy is for this, before buying it. Just in case you get a lemon, so you can walk into the local store and return it without a problem.

If you read through the reviews 99% of them are due to a problem during manufactureing where the engine was not slid up the shaft far enough to engage. That is also why there are so many refurbished models. Odds of getting a refurbished one with this problem is slim to none, and if you do you just loosen the screws push the motor on and tighten back up.

If someone is that worried about it they can toss on the extended warranty as well....

Update: I have used this trimmer for a full season now and must say I love it. The price was amazing but that is just the tip of the ice burg. I have ran many trimmers over the years from every manufacture and from entry level to top of the line. Though there are other trimmers out there I have no complaints about this one still stands out above them to me.

It has so much power I find that I never really need unless I am clearing brush with it but it sure is nice to have! The thing is so quiet compaired to the 2 strokes I have always ran and it sure is nice being quiet if you have to run a trimmer for several hours. Another cool thing about the power while a 2 stroke only makes good power at wide open throttle these 4 strokes make good smooth power all the way through the power band, so because of that I find I typically only use 1/4 throttle unlike the full throttle I have always used with 2 strokes in the past. The head that comes on it is great as well, no issues with string welding together or any of those common issues.

Anyways, I just wanted to give an update on it incase anyone stumbles across this later down the road.

I got a refurbed 128LD from Northern, thing is a beast. Not knocking anything for yours, but 4 cycle not for me. My 2 cycle can clear thicker brush and weeds than the 4 cycle could.

Hard to imagine a trimmer being more powerful than the 224L... it is flippin' awesome (then again, I've always used cheapos in the past). I picked one up back in July, ran it since on my 1ac lot including some cleanup of un-maintained areas. Only problem is lately it takes a second pull to start. Out of the box it was first pull every time. Running on straight gas is a big convenience too.

what I mean by that is, brushcutting you're going to do at full throttle most of the time.

My 128 doesn't get as bogged down in thick brush, it's able to stay mostly at full speed unless something is just too thick for the cutter blades.

A 4 cycle is smoother throughout the range, and even if it is 'more powerful' in terms of the output hp, when you have a 2 cycle banging on every down stroke vs a 4 cycle, certain tasks are going to be easier.

4 cycles are fine for edging, for trimming grass and light weeds, something that isn't going to affect the inertia of the trimmer line much. but there are still some things that a 2 cycle does better.

compared to a cheapo, any good 2 or 4 cycle trimmer will be amazing. but comparing good 2 cycle & good 4 cycle, you will start to see the strengths of each more clearly.

Eh... I use to think that about 2 vs 4 stroke but after running one I have found the extra torque a 4 stroke has over a 2 stroke makes it a much more powerful trimmer... The torque makes a 4 stroke less likely to bog down then a 2 stroke.
